Battle Racing Reignited!
I love PC gaming, but the Xbox Backwards Compatibility program has pulled me from my desk and into my living room once again.
I spent many hours of my youth smashing fellow racers into pillars, causing massive pile-ups, and satisfying my inner nine-year-old, explosion after explosion. It's no surprise that I'm more than thrilled to play through this nolsstalgic arcade racer once more.
Burnout Revenge is arguably the best game in the franchise, or at least a close 2nd to Burnout 3: Takedown. The games after that failed to capture the essence of the franchise by omitting crash mode. Revenge took everything great about Burnout 3: Takedown and turned it up to 11. Being taken out by other racers now spawned revenge rivals, same-direction traffic could be used as projectiles and of course the Crashbreaker in racing modes.
The Crashbreaker allowed you to gain explosive payback by consuming all of your boost to cause an explosion after crashing. If you take out an opponent then your boost meter fills to its max and you are ready to do it all over again. In crash mode, where you try to cause the biggest intersection pile-up possible, the Crashbreaker allowed for dramatic mid crash explosions often sending your car into other intersections and secret areas for maximum damage.
When it's all wrapped up Burnout Revenge is a must buy for any Xbox owner. You get twitchy arcade racing, a wonderful couch party Crash Mode and the immense satisfaction of getting explosive payback on your friends. At $10 this game is a no brainer!
